LIZ BANNER, Executive Director of Academics

Liz received her Bachelors in Special Education from Weber State University and her Masters in Education from Argosy University. Her Spectrum Career began in 2009 when she worked as a Paraprofessional to support her son at his new school. She then went on to teach for a few years and in 2013 became the Principal of the Pleasant Grove Campus. She is a member of the CEC (Council for Exceptional Children), ARUCC (Autism Resources of Utah County Council), and USEAP (Utah Special Education Advisory Panel); representing Individuals with Disabilities as a parent of a student with disabilities.

COURTNEY ENGLAND, Executive Director of Finance 

Courtney received her Bachelor's degree in Business Accounting from the University of Utah in 2001. She brings over 20 years experience in the private, public, and non-profit sectors. She has worked for Spectrum for seven years as the Business Manager. She enjoys her new role knowing she is contributing, in an indirect way, to improving the lives of so many children and their families.

MANDY FUHRIMAN, Ed.D., Director of Special Education

Mandy holds a Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, a Master's degree in Special Education, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy, all from the University of Utah. With active K-12 teaching and administrator licenses, she brings 15 years of experience in both public and private school systems as an educator and administrator. Mandy is a contributing author to two recently published books on special education and inclusion and has served as a project leader for the University of Utah’s GET REAL! Project, which focuses on teacher development and transdisciplinary practices.

STEVEN MERRELL, Ed.D., Principal, NSL High School

Steven Merrell has worked with students ranging from 5th-grade through 12th-grade throughout his time in the classroom. Steven received his Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from the University of San Diego, his Master of Arts in English Literature from Macquarie University (AUS), and his Master in Education from the University of Utah. Steven is currently in the Educational Leadership Doctoral program at the University of Utah.

HOLLI GLOVER, Principal, NSL Intermediate

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Mild to Moderate. My passion to advocate for others has grown as I have worked for the Granite School District and Spectrum Academy for the last decade. My love of working with students and getting to know their families has also grown in my positions as a paraprofessional, Special Education teacher, Instructional Coach, and now, an Assistant Principal.

Kathie Phillips is an enthusiastic educator with a decade of experience teaching at Spectrum Academy. Her passion for teaching and learning has led her to pursue a master's degree in Educational Administration. Kathie is eager to bring her extensive knowledge of the school to the position while continuing to learn and grow.

KATIE HART, Principal, NSL STARS

Katie Hart has been a teacher at Spectrum since 2014 teaching Elementary Functional Life Skills. She has a Bachelor's in Special Education with a Severe Emphasis from Brigham Young University and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction - Autism Spectrum Disorders from Arizona State University.

Program Administration & Coordinators

KATHERINE BANNER, MTSS Administrator
Katherine Banner holds a Bachelor's degree in Special Education as well as a Master's degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Multi-Tiered System of Supports. She joined the Spectrum Academy team in 2015 starting as a 5th grade teacher before becoming a special education coach. Katherine has also had the opportunity to teach courses at Brigham Young University helping teacher candidates learn best practices for collaboration between general education and special education teams.

KALEY VEATER, Ed Tech and CTE Administrator

Kaley Veater has been at Spectrum Academy since 2012. She has worked as a middle school social studies teacher, assistant principal, and principal. She is currently serving as Spectrum Academy's Educational Technology Coordinator and the Career and Technical Education Coordinator. She has a Bachelor's in History Education from Utah Valley University and a Masters in Educational Leadership from American College of Education.

BRE MOFFATT, Assessment Program Administrator

Bre Moffatt has been working with kids with autism for 13 years. She first taught at a private school and started with Spectrum Academy in 2014, when the PG campus first opened. She taught for 4 years and was an instructional coach for 6 years before becoming the Assessment Program Administrator. She holds a Bachelors in Business Management, a Masters in Education, and a Special Education license.
