We're excited to partner with you for your student's high school success. We're committed to providing a nurturing, challenging environment where every teenager can access the adult life they want to have. Your active participation is vital and deeply appreciated.
Supporting Every Student's Journey
Fostering an inclusive environment is paramount. We champion integrated universal design principles in our curriculum, ensuring accessible learning for all. Our dedicated special education supports meet diverse needs, providing personalized pathways to success. Additionally, our compassionate related services team—including specialists in speech, occupational therapy (OT), behavioral support, and counseling—provides holistic support for our students' academic, social, and emotional well-being. We encourage you to reach out if you have questions about specialized support.
Preparing for the Future with CTE
At Spectrum Academy High School in North Salt Lake, we offer a comprehensive educational experience beyond academics. Our vibrant Career and Technical Education (CTE) department provides hands-on opportunities in wood shop, computer programming, and culinary arts, helping students develop valuable real-world skills. Through our Pre-Employment Transition Program and partnership with Davis Technical College, we offer pathways to career readiness and advanced training, giving your teenager a head start on their chosen career path.
Building Character Through Athletics
Our dynamic athletics program promotes teamwork and healthy competition. Whether it's basketball, volleyball, soccer, or Special Olympics, our student-athletes learn discipline, resilience, and sportsmanship. We believe these programs offer invaluable lessons extending far beyond the game.
Tips for Supporting Your Teenager's Potential
Here are tips to help your teenager achieve their full potential, both inside and outside the classroom:
-
Promote Digital Hygiene: Guide your teenager in responsible and safe online practices, ensuring a healthy balance between screen time and other activities.
-
Establish Consistent Sleep Schedules: A regular sleep routine is crucial for a teenager's focus, mood, and ability to learn.
-
Prioritize Healthy Nutrition: Encourage balanced meals and healthy snacks to fuel their bodies and minds throughout the school day.
-
Continue Promoting a Culture of Reading in Your Home: Provide students with high-interest and age-appropriate materials to foster a lifelong love of reading.
-
Communicate Regularly with Teachers: Use ParentSquare to stay in regular contact with your student's teachers to discuss their progress, address any concerns, and collaborate on strategies to support their learning.
-
Foster Independence: Support your teenager in developing academic independence and adult living skills, empowering them to take ownership of their learning and future.
Working together, we'll continue building on elementary and middle school foundations, ensuring your teenager's ongoing academic and personal growth. We're here to prepare them for a bright future and invite your active participation. Please reach out to your student's teachers, support teams, or the school office with any questions or for support.
Warm regards,
Steven Merrell, Principal
